Derco signs agreement with ASB Avionics to distribute C-130 & L-100 upgrades

Derco Aerospace, Inc., a unit of Sikorsky Aerospace Services, has signed an agreement to distribute ASB Avionics’ HF Shunt Antenna upgrade and an avionics upgrade, both products for C-130 and L-100 aircraft. Sikorsky Aerospace Services is the worldwide aftermarket business of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Applicable to any C-130 or L-100 equipped with an HF long wire antenna, the HF Shunt Antenna upgrade (Supplemental Type Certificate – STC ST01574LA) is integrated into the aircraft’s dorsal fin, eliminating the need for the long wire and improving the reliability of the HF system. The shunt antenna also improves aircraft aerodynamics, which leads to better fuel economy.

The avionics upgrade, also applicable to the C-130 and L-100, equips these aircraft with a state-of-the-art glass cockpit, which includes an integrated Engine Instrument Display System, via an existing and proven design that has been granted Federal Aviation Administration STC ST01162LA. Both the HF Shunt Antenna and avionics upgrades are certified by the FAA. The avionics upgrade also is compliant with the Communications, Navigation, Surveillance / Air Traffic Management system.
